Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on peaceful-world.org and how you can control them.
1. Our approach
We use strictly necessary technologies where they are required for the website to function. We also use privacy-preserving aggregate measurement that does not set analytics cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. Analytics cookies and marketing technologies remain disabled until you allow them. Google Analytics can still receive limited cookie-free page signals while your choice is pending.
Rejecting optional cookies should not prevent you from reading Peaceful World content or using core site functions.
2. Cookie categories
| Category | Purpose | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Security, basic site operation and remembering consent choices where required. | Always active where required. |
| Aggregate measurement | Page-level traffic, referrals, campaign UTMs, broad country and device/browser aggregates without analytics cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. | Active when the approved privacy-preserving provider is enabled. |
| Optional analytics | Google Analytics cookies and deeper interaction measurement following consent. | Cookies off until consent; limited cookieless measurement may run. |
| Preferences | Remember optional interface choices when a feature requires this. | Off unless needed or chosen. |
| Marketing | Advertising, remarketing or campaign measurement. | Off until explicit consent; not required for normal site use. |
3. Analytics services
We use Umami Cloud for website measurement without analytics cookies or localStorage identifiers. This service can calculate anonymous sessions from technical request data (including IP address and browser characteristics); cookie-free does not mean that no personal data is processed. We send page-level measurements only, omit URL queries and fragments, respect Do Not Track, and do not pass custom event details. This layer operates separately from optional Google Analytics cookies.
Before a choice is recorded, Google Analytics 4 can send limited cookieless page-view measurements with analytics_storage denied. These requests may include request headers, referrer and page information, but do not set analytics cookies. After consent, Google Analytics may set identifiers such as _ga to distinguish browsers and measure interactions. An explicit refusal prevents our Google tag from loading on later visits. Cookie names and retention may change with provider updates.
Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation should remain denied unless a future feature specifically requires them and the visitor has consented.
4. Embedded and third-party content
Some pages may link to or embed content from third-party services. A third party can apply its own cookies or storage when its content is loaded or when you interact with it. We aim to avoid loading non-essential third-party tracking before the required consent.
5. Change or withdraw your choice
You can reopen the cookie controls at any time. Withdrawing consent should be as easy as giving it.
6. Separate product consent
5 Practice is a separate product surface with its own consent-first analytics implementation and product privacy policy. Its analytics tag is designed not to load before analytics consent.
7. Changes
We update this page when our cookie use or consent configuration materially changes.
